VIRTUAL PRODUCTION
Digital World-Building Meets Real-World Cinematography
What is Virtual Production?
Virtual Production is an innovative filmmaking approach that seamlessly blends virtual and physical worlds. It combines advanced technologies such as augmented reality, CGI, and game engines to allow for real-time visualization and capture of scenes. This technique utilizes LED screens, live camera tracking, and real-time rendering with off-axis projection to achieve in-camera visual effects (ICVFX). This results in the live capture of lighting, reflections, digital environments, and VFX elements, giving creative teams the ability to see their vision come to life as they film.

Real-Time Asset Creation: Virtual Art Department (VAD)
The Virtual Art Department is the bridge between imagination and reality. They take initial concepts and bring them to life through the creation of photorealistic 3D environments, ensuring consistency and high-quality in all their models.
Photogrammetry
Photogrammetry is another way to bring real life objects into the virtual world. It's a technique to obtain 3D information from a series of photos or videos of objects, structures, or landscapes. This information is transformed into 2D or 3D digital models that can be used in virtual environments.
De-Risk with Previs + Techvis
Pre-Visualization (Previs) is a key aspect of filmmaking that allows for the visualization and design of a production using 3D imagery. Our customized pipeline and digital toolset are specifically designed for rapid iteration and exploration of various elements such as lighting, camera placement and movement, stage direction, and editing for specific shots or sequences. This allows for creative and narrative concepts to be tested and proven without incurring actual production costs. With its speed and iterative approach, Previs is an essential tool for bringing your creative vision to life.
To create "Pitchvis" material that can help secure a greenlight from your colleagues, a team of previs shot creators, concept artists, animators, and real-time technical artists can be utilized. Pitchvis can encompass sequences from the project or an overall trailer, providing a dynamic visualization of the cinematic vision. This versatile creative service transforms an abstract concept into a tangible product to help you make informed decisions prior to the production.
Techvis involves planning complex shots by combining virtual elements with real-world equipment to guide multiple production departments. It usually takes the form of diagrams, animated schematics, and data used to control onset equipment such as motion control rigs, wire cams, and techno-dollys. The creation of Techvis is based on captured footage and virtual assets to validate camera moves, placement, and lens choices, reducing the risk of unrealistic virtual choices. Techvis focuses on physics and camera data rather than visual appeal or editing. As shoots become more complex and schedules more constrained, Techvis is becoming increasingly valuable to the execution of Virtual Production as facilitating accuracy and efficiency to save time and minimize costs and risks.

Real-time Rendering & Optimization
Real-time rendering with Unreal Engine refers to the process of creating and displaying 3D graphics in real-time. Unreal Engine is a powerful game engine that provides real-time rendering capabilities for creating interactive and immersive experiences. To maintain a smooth and fluid visual experience, it's important to keep the frames per second (FPS) rate at a consistently high level. This means rendering enough frames per second so that the graphics appear smooth and fluid to the user.
To maintain a high FPS rate, Unreal Engine employs various optimization techniques, including level of detail (LOD) systems, occlusion culling, VFX techniques and efficient use of hardware resources. LOD systems reduce the amount of geometry and detail in objects that are far away or not in focus, reducing the processing load. Occlusion culling only renders objects that are visible to the camera, reducing the number of objects that need to be processed. Additionally, Unreal Engine makes efficient use of available hardware resources such as GPUs, CPUs, and memory to ensure that the engine is running smoothly and efficiently.
In summary, real-time rendering with Unreal Engine involves creating and displaying 3D graphics in real-time, and maintaining a high FPS rate to ensure a smooth and fluid visual experience for the user.
In-Camera Visual Effects (ICVFX)
In Camera VFX (ICVFX) is a method of capturing real-time visual effects during a live-action film shoot. It combines digital elements like environments, characters and more with the physical set, enhancing the overall immersive experience and fostering collaboration. The technique uses LED lighting, live camera tracking, and real-time rendering with off-axis projection to seamlessly integrate foreground actors and virtual backgrounds. The main objective of this method is to eliminate the requirement for green screen compositing and to produce final pixel results directly in-camera.

Benefits of Virtual Production
Our Virtual Production LED stages allow actors to fully immerse themselves in any environment of your imagination.

Endless Creative Possibilities
Endless Creative Possibilities
Bring to life any environment you can envision by fully immersing your actors in it. Within one physical LED stage, you can film a 24-hour sunset in California, be in the heart of Times Square, and explore fantastical realms.

Full Environmental Control
Full Environmental Control
Virtual production is like having a magic wand for filmmakers! With full environmental control, they can conjure up anything from a never-ending sunrise to a wild, windy storm. Say goodbye to waiting for the perfect weather on location or relying on green screens - now, directors can switch from a rainy day to a sunny one in a snap! No need to leave the studio or budget for reshoots, virtual production gives directors the creative freedom to make their visions a reality while saving time and money.

Precision Planning, Real-time Flexibility
Precision Planning, Real-time Flexibility
Precision planning is key, but when creativity strikes, you have the ability to make changes in real-time. Virtual production allows for on-the-fly iteration and experimentation without posing significant risk to either the production or budget. No need to stick to the script when changes help tell your story better.

Natural + Interactive Scene Lighting
Natural + Interactive Scene Lighting
Just like the hokey pokey, that's what virtual production with LED walls is all about! The LED walls provide the perfect combination of ambient and interactive light, giving scenes a natural feel with realistic reflections and shadows cast on the talent and props. No more time-consuming post-production work - the LED walls bring photo-realism to the set, making it easy to create a believable and dynamic scene.

Natural Performances
Natural Performances
Virtual production with LED walls allows for a more authentic and immersive acting experience for talent and gives the audience a more engaging and authentic viewing experience. By seeing the environment in real-time, actors can make proper eye contact, follow sightlines, and respond or react to their surroundings in a natural and instinctive way. This allows for a more dynamic and believable performance, as the actors can respond to events in real-time, rather than relying on pre-determined choreography.
